The children, staff and parents are all back into the swing of things at the School. I have been lucky to see so many examples of excellent teaching and learning from Nursery to Year 6 as I have walked the School.
I hope many of you got to see our children performing on Good Morning Britain on the morning of Wednesday 10th September. Over 50 children from Key Stage Two were at the front of the School at 6:30am along with several members of staff. The children were impeccably behaved and sang the National Anthem with power and clarity. They all represented the School superbly well and we are very proud of them.
Our Governing Body has a new member in Councillor Joseph Carter. Mr Carter visited the School on Friday to meet myself and our Chair of Governors, Sarah Griffiths. We are delighted to have Mr Carter on our Governing Body and I am sure he will bring the support and challenge that we require.
On Saturday morning over 40 pupils, parents, staff, Governors and friends climbed Pen Y Fan mountain to help build our School community and to raise money to develop our Junior playground. It was an excellent turnout and everyone’s support epitomised our School motto of ‘Together we can all Succeed’. Thank you to everyone who took part and everyone who has sponsored us.
Another busy week is ahead. We are currently in the process of appointing new members of staff and I will be undertaking lesson observations and formal interviews this week to appoint a new teacher at the School. The process of appointments at Llanedeyrn Primary School is always thorough in order to ensure we appoint the best people for the job.
Other events and meetings this week include meeting the new School Nurse, a Governing Body Finance Committee meeting, a school trip to Hampton Court, a girls’ football tournament and our Eid party. So a full and exciting week ahead for the staff and pupils.
Mr I James
