Llanedeyrn Primary School is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Using this website

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. We aim to use clear headings and link text, meaningful alternatives for informative images, readable page layouts, and controls that can be used with a keyboard.

You should be able to use your browser to zoom and resize text. Browser and assistive-technology settings may also let you change colours, spacing or how content is read aloud.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

PDF documents

Some current and older PDF documents do not contain sufficient accessibility tagging or a declared document language. Complex layouts and tables may also have an unclear reading order when used with screen-reading software. This may fail WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships), 1.3.2 (Meaningful Sequence) and 3.1.1 (Language of Page).

We will prioritise documents that are most frequently used or needed to access a school service. Where possible, new information will be published as accessible HTML or as an accessible, tagged document. You can request an accessible alternative using the contact details above.

Automated translation

The website’s Translate feature is provided by an external automated service. Translations may not always be accurate, and the service may not preserve all language or accessibility information. Please contact the school if you need important information explained or provided in another format.

Further testing

Our initial review sampled important pages and document types but was not a complete independent audit of every WCAG 2.2 AA requirement. Further issues may be found during broader testing. We will add confirmed issues to this statement and prioritise fixes according to their effect on users.

Disproportionate burden

We are not currently claiming that fixing any known issue would be a disproportionate burden.

Content outside the scope of the regulations

Some third-party content and documents may be outside the school’s direct control. We will still try to provide an accessible alternative when requested and will consider accessibility when selecting or reviewing external services.

Enforcement procedure

If you contact us about an accessibility problem and are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service. The Equality and Human Rights Commission is responsible for enforcing the accessibility regulations.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

  • Reviewing priority policies and documents and replacing inaccessible PDFs with accessible HTML or tagged files where practical.
  • Checking headings, alternative text, link wording, keyboard access, focus visibility, zoom and colour contrast across a representative sample of pages.
  • Reviewing third-party services, including automated translation and embedded content.
  • Including accessibility checks when pages or documents are added or substantially changed.
  • Reviewing this statement at least once a year and after significant website changes.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 12 September 2026 and was last reviewed on 12 September 2026.

A limited self-assessment was carried out on 12 September 2026 by the school website team. The sample included the homepage, contact page, policy library and website privacy page. The review checked content structure, headings, image alternatives, third-party frames and the accessibility tagging of a sample of current PDF policies.

A fuller audit against WCAG 2.2 AA is still required. This statement will be updated when that audit is completed or when significant changes are made.
